Who we are
Drones2Jets runs aviation STEM programs for students and families in North Carolina. Drones2Jets is a project of Make An Impact Foundation, Inc., a North Carolina 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 27-3594856). Who our website is for
Our website is for families, students, educators, schools and supporters. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (see "Children's privacy" below).
Information you give us
Contact form ("Get Connected"): when you fill in the form we receive your name, your email address and the role you pick (for example parent, educator or funder). The form is processed through Google Forms, so Google stores the answers for us.
Email: if you email info@drones2jets.org, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. Our email is hosted by Microsoft 365.
Information collected automatically (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use our site, for example which sections are visited, how visitors found us, the type of device and browser, and approximate location (city or region level). Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technology. We use this information only in summary form to improve the site. We do not use it to identify you personally. You can block analytics cookies in your browser or use Google's opt-out add-on: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
Donations (DonorView)
Our donation form is provided by DonorView and is shown inside our site. When you donate, you enter your details (such as name, email, address and payment information) directly into DonorView. DonorView and its payment processor handle the payment; we do not see or store your full card number. We receive donor details from DonorView so we can thank you and keep records. DonorView's own privacy policy also applies.
Merchandise (Amaze)
Our official merch store is hosted by Amaze (app.amazecommerce.com). When you shop, Amaze collects your order, shipping and payment details under its own privacy policy. We may receive order information needed to fulfill and support your purchase.
Other services on our site
Our pages use a few outside services to work: Google Fonts (text styles), map tiles from OpenStreetMap and CARTO, flight data from OpenSky Network, links to YouTube, LiveATC.net and FlightAware, and Cloudflare (to protect our email address from spam bots). The site is hosted by Netlify. These providers may receive basic technical information such as your IP address and browser type when your browser loads their content. If you follow a link to another website, that site's privacy policy applies.
How we use information
To answer your questions and connect you with our programs; to send you information you asked for; to process and acknowledge donations and merch orders; to understand and improve our website; and to meet legal and record-keeping duties. If you sign up for email updates, every message will include a way to unsubscribe.
What we don't do
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers named above who help us run our site and programs, or when the law requires it.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
Our website is meant for families and students, but we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Our contact form is for parents, guardians, educators and students 13 and older. If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us. If we learn that we have received personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. Parents who think their child has sent us information can email info@drones2jets.org and we will remove it. Program registration for students under 13 is completed by a parent or guardian, who gives consent for their child's participation. We share photos or video of students only with a signed parent or guardian media release.
How long we keep information
Contact-form and email messages are kept up to 24 months after our last contact with you, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Donation and merch order records are kept 7 years for tax and accounting.
How we protect information
We use reputable providers and limit access to people who need it. No website is 100% secure, so please don't send sensitive information (like card numbers) by email or the contact form.
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop sending you emails, by writing to info@drones2jets.org. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
